How do you deal with stress if you cannot eliminate it?
Stress is a huge part of our lives. It comes from all kinds of expected and unexpected places. From troubles at work to family conflicts, we all have something to deal with every day. Stress is a nasty part of life that unfortunately cannot be eliminated unless you are made out of stone and you worry about nothing.
However, although stress cannot be eliminated, you can do some things to make yourself feel better. Denying that you have a problem does not solve anything. Putting on a fake smile when you want to cry will not make your life better. However, if you give yourself permission to feel bad and just relax and try to make the best of the situation, you will often find that you were stressed out all for nothing and that in your mind you made the situation seem worse than it actually is. We all imagine the worst possible outcome and think of immediate death. Although this does happen from time to time, usually we are just motivated by fear and we need to relax a little.
If you have a friend you can talk to or a hobby that you can engage in that would really help a lot. When we are having a good time we can forget about our troubles at least for a moment and just enjoy our life. You never know one day you are here and you are enjoying yourself and tomorrow you can get hit by a car and goodbye birdie. So just live for the moment and stop worrying so much about what the future holds. In my experience it gets better, but very slowly. Some things may get worse before they get better and other things just get worse.
I feel that if you have a lot of people in your life who truly love you and care about you, you will not be influenced too much by stress because you have a strong support system. So instead of only focusing on your career, it is better to focus on the social part of your life and make sure you do not struggle alone.
